چکیده

We study QCD hard processes at scales of order k ≫ Λ in the limit in which the beta-function coefficient b is taken to be small, but ᾱs(k ) is kept fixed. The (nonperturbative) Pomeron is exponentially suppressed in this limit, making it possible to define purely perturbative high-energy Green’s functions. The hard Pomeron exponent acquires diffusion and running coupling corrections which can be expanded in the b parameter and turn out to be dependent on the effective coupling bᾱ sY . We provide a general setup for this b-expansion and we calculate the first few terms both analytically and numerically.

Pomeron loop and running coupling effects in high energy QCD evolution

Within the framework of a (1+1)–dimensional model which mimics evolution and scattering in QCD at high energy, we study the influence of the running of the coupling on the high–energy dynamics with Pomeron loops. We find that the particle number fluctuations are strongly suppressed by the running of the coupling, by at least one order of magnitude as compared to the case of a fixed coupling, fo...

We discuss the small-x behaviour of the next-to-leading BFKL equation, depending on various smoothing out procedures of the running coupling constant at low momenta. While scaling violations (with resummed and calculable anomalous dimensions) turn out to be always consistent with the renormalization group, we argue that the nature and the location of the so-called hard Pomeron are dependent on ...

RUNNING COUPLING EFFECTS IN SMALL-x QCD

We study effects of the running of the coupling in QCD at small Bjorken-x and in particular the ones related to gluon saturation. After introducing the steps taken to the derivation of the next to leading order nonlinear evolution equation, we discuss the infrared sensitivity of the Pomeron intercept, the energy dependence of the saturation momentum and the appearance of geometrical scaling, an...

Running coupling and pomeron loop effects on inclusive and diffractive DIS cross sections

Within the framework of a (1 + 1)-dimensional model which mimics high-energy QCD, we study the behavior of the cross sections for inclusive and diffractive deep inelastic γ ∗h scattering cross sections. We analyze the cases of both fixed and running coupling within the mean-field approximation, in which the evolution of the scattering amplitude is described by the Balitsky–Kovchegov equation, a...

Hard to soft pomeron transition in small-x deep inelastic scattering data using optimal renormalization.

We show that it is possible to describe the effective Pomeron intercept, determined from the HERA deep inelastic scattering data at small values of Bjorken x, by using next-to-leading order Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov evolution together with collinear improvements. To obtain a good description over the whole range of Q(2), we use a non-Abelian physical renormalization scheme with the Brodsky-...
